Description: The way in which teachers engage their students has changed over the past decade. Students, and some teachers, are using social networking on a daily basis. By bringing a social network into your classroom, you will increase student engagement and learning potential. The networks and tools to be addressed in this course include Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, and TeacherTube

Pre-requisites: This is an introductory course for teachers, technology specialists, curriculum specialists, professional development specialists, or other school personnel. Participants are expected to have regular access to computers. In addition, participants should be proficient with using email, browsing the Internet, and navigating to computer files. High-speed access is preferred.

Objectives: This course will enable participants to:

Introduce social networks available to educators and their uses in the classroom
Develop strategies for using social networks in the classroom
Develop techniques for ensuring student success with social networks in a classroom situation
Create a social networking account to use in your classroom
