Description: This course is designed for educators using or ready to use Promethean/ActivBoards to engage learners, support teacher efforts, and strengthen performance in the classroom. This is a level one course designed for teachers, technology coordinators, administrators, professional development specialists, or other school personnel.
Promethean Essentials Level One requires access to the latest version of ActivInspire, which can be downloaded from Promethean Planet. Participants will also need to be familiar with navigating the Internet and downloading and saving files.


Pre-requisites: This is an introductory course for teachers, technology specialists, curriculum specialists, professional development specialists, or other school personnel.  Participants are expected to have regular access to computers.  In addition, participants should be proficient with using email, browsing the Internet, and navigating to computer files.


Objectives: Participants who complete the entire Level One course will receive practical hands-on experience using the Promethean/ActivBoard and will create a Flipchart lesson to use in their individual classrooms. Participants will also upload the Flipchart to Promethean Planet and share with others. Course participants will complete readings, activities, and participate in discussion forums with other participants. This course will encourage implementation of the 21st century classroom resources and allow for digital learning.

Session One: What is the ActivClassroom? (hardware and software basics and advantages of using interactive whiteboards in the classroom)
Session Two: Navigating Through the Tools (Dashboard, Profiles, and Foundational tools)
Session Three: Creating a Flipchart (How to create, save, edit, and download)
Session Four: Where, What, and How? Part 1 (Understanding the Resource Browser and Promethean Planet)
Session Five: Where, What, and How? Part 2 (Using the Page, Notes, and Object Browser)
Session Six: Lights, Camera, Action (Using Presentation Tools)
